with the gti6 cams you may see 10 bhp more
but you need the exhaust manifold and head for the most,
with this and a remap you may get to 155bhp and about the same torque

that would be flywheel power
170bhp is impossible with cams, chip and induction kit
the gti6 is essentially the same engine, but completley reworked and only pushes out 167bhp at about 6500rpm
the standard 2.0 16v only has 132bhp at 5500rpm as standard

ive been looking to see what others have done and there is someone on the 406 coupe (its the same engine isn't it ?) forum that has :
cat back exhaust system, k&n apollo induction kit, piper fast road cams and pullies, de-cat pipe, with a dasket uni-chip and they are run 172hp
so if i d all that plus the gti-6 exhaust mainfold i should get some good figures shouldn't i ?
also is there any factory throttle bodies that are better than our stock ones on say gti-6, 206 gti etc ?

the 406 coupe has a much later version of the 2.0 16v called the EW10j4r whereas the old unit is called the XU10j4r, the later engine is also found in the 206 gti, and has more power as standard
i still cant believe that has 172bhp from only that lot
the only way to get a larger throttle body is to fit the gti6 inlet manifold as this flows better than the standard plastic one and has a larger throttle body
the exhaust manifold will gain you about 10bhp and will greatly increase throttle response

its quite possible and also on the 2l xsi engine aswell, for example high lift cams and a remap on a gti6 will give you 190bhp lots of them around that on gti6 owners club.and as we have already established there is VERY little difference in the engines.jameslxdt wrote:the 406 coupe has a much later version of the 2.0 16v called the EW10j4r whereas the old unit is called the XU10j4r, the later engine is also found in the 206 gti, and has more power as standard

and even the ew engine its still very similar in design to the xu (its more of an upgraded/modernised xu) except being alu block and using an electric water pump, it even still uses the same engine mounts for example, although it sits at a slightly diff angle

well i do actually own a coupe but when i asked on the coupe forum about the best performance mods for a 2.0 16v their standard reply is buy a v6
i bought a 2 litre because i loved the look of the car but i didn't want to have the stupid insurance/running costs of the v6 and now i just want to squeeze a bit more power out
will it being an EW make a difference ? will the gti-6 parts still fit ?
thanks for your help

nope they wont but being an ew means find yourself a 206gti 180 cams or preferably the whole head since it has some awesome work done it from the factory and slap that onfastfu wrote:well i do actually own a coupe but when i asked on the coupe forum about the best performance mods for a 2.0 16v their standard reply is buy a v6![]()
