01' 406 Key Fob.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

01' 406 Key Fob.

Post by ArLee »

Hey.
I was searching for a replacement fob for my Y reg 110 GTX.
And listings were of either one or two button fobs.
Since i dont have a fob and only the key blade, i dont have a clue if my car came with 2 or 1 button fob.
Can someone please tell me which one is it?
Thanks!
110 GTX. I only bought it cause GTX sounds cool. Should've bought a clean LS. :/

Thanks.

you can delete your vin if you wish 8)

Some light reading for you and codes can be obtained easily enough if you need them

Deleted info as its only confusing apparently

(Trem, instead of posting a whole load of ballcocks that'll only baffle the poor guy you should use the vin as a filter on the parts diagrams - electrical unit -> protectors and doors -> locking/unlocking)

was only trying to help..........................again i get shot down by a Mod

There might be more clues in the handbook.
In the "handbooks" section in ServiceBox there are two versions of each car: a "normal" on, and one with a blob next to it with "dag" appended to the description. What are these?

Unfortunately the earliest handbooks are for 2002. The keys are this type: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-106-2 ... 5ae512940d

I would expect yours to be this type as well.

You only have one key blade?
I thought that to start the car you must have a fob becuase the fob contains the chip that is read by the immobiliser?
So how do you start the car?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I have no clue pal.
:|
I only have the key blade in a hollow case (nothing inside). It does start the car. But Im afraid whatever has turned off the immobilizer permanently, might just decide to let it go and I'll be in big big trouble.

Edit: DOes your car have a key pad immobiliser then?

Both fobs have the chip.

2002 onwards handbooks cover full mux cars only, by the build code the car in question is a semi-mux D9 (incidentally build code 08936 = Sat 28 Apr 2001 - happy birthday for next Saturday :cheesy: ) and I don't think the pilps are the same, the plip you're after looks like the D8 one but it aint.

I didn't get to see the VIN but I don't think the car has dead locks, so it needs a one button plip (Trem, instead of posting a whole load of ballcocks that'll only baffle the poor guy :P you should use the vin as a filter on the parts diagrams - electrical unit -> protectors and doors -> locking/unlocking)

9926KH NFP HF EMITTER
- SIMPLE CENTRAL LOCKING

(A is if unavailable use the dumb remote and NFP means they don't make them any more :frown: )

OOh, looking on ebay the difference between the D8 & semi-mux D9 is one of them has a hole in the blade. What does your dumb key have?

Er no, the other end - I guess that means it hasn't.

Something like this then: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-306-4 ... 2c646e51e8

This is one side of the key case. Dont know what that long thin rectangular thing, besides the opening for the key blade, is.

Edit: i think that thin piece of plastic is THE transponder. :P

I tried hard to find the hole, you know!!
:cheesy:

Btw, my key blade is exactly like the one in the ebay link you posted.
So should I go for it??

I'm not sure, the ad says it's for a 306 or 406 but searching with the part number in the parts catalogue just brings up 406 restyle so there's a chance it's the wrong one. I couldn't actually find one on there that was definitely the right one either :frown:
