Re: mpg
I don't think they all had it. On early cars, it tended to be the top spec ones only, but towards the end most would have had trip computers. If yours has, it should have an arrow symbol for thebutton on the end of the wiper stalk, (this is what changes which parameter is displayed, but I think it always shows something on the MFD).
What model is your car?

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

in all honesty, idont think its worth it,
it wouid involve changing the stalks, Mfd perhaps, and then like everything else, it might need pp2000
to activate it all,
ive had the Mpg screen function on a few cars, its something irarely use, if it wasnt there idont think id waste money adding it,
but everyone is differnt a spose.
thing is these pergos are abit twitchy to electrical stuff, nothing much on them is plug n play,
