Sat Nav REMOTE !!

Hi NEWBIW Here,
Just bought 406 2.2 51 plate Ex last night with sat nav. All seems hunky dory car drove great back from Taunton to Yeovil. However i have discovered the sat nav remote is missing?? i see them on ebay reasonably cheap but not sure if they are universal etc.. can anybody advise me best way to go ?? i imagine going to peugeot will be expensive any advice gladly appreciated as never had pug before and hope i have not made massive mistake!!

Hi and welcome!

The Sat Nav remote is universal (i.e. won't need coded to your car) - they work in all 406s (saloon, estate, and Coupe) with the same type of multi-function display you have in your D9 Exec.

will both work in your car; they are the same part. Although the first one is cheaper, it's from a seller with 0 feedback. The second one is being sold by Adrian Bingham (ade1122), who is a very reputable man in the 406 Coupe world; he runs a breaker's yard specializing in the 406 Coupe. This guy is one you will want to keep in mind for any engine, gearbox, or electrical parts you may need for your 2.2 HDi Exec, as these parts are common to both the 2.2 HDi saloon/estate and 2.2 HDi Coupe.

Also - photos of your car would be nice to see!

Many thanks for advice! will go for the one from your recomendation. Just insured the car so off for a spin in the rain to get used to it!! will upload pic soon of new wheels. Car all seems fine but i dont know when cam belt last done so i may be asking help on forum later to see if there is any way i can test to see if it needs doing. Is very posh car for me, just had old 97 Audi a4 written off the pug is like a limo inside!.......I better get some seat covers!!

Chap i purchased car from is looking for it as he is sure he has it somewhere....(hmmmm likely story)........if not i will get back in touch as rest of sat nav actually seems to be working eg: tells me what road i am on.. i just cant adjust/programme anything or see my mpg etc. thanks for offer!

With the radio off, the display should show the MPG pages at the left and the street at the right. The button on the end of the right hand stalk cycles the left hand section: globe icon --> instantateous readout --> trip 1 --> trip 2 -->
On the trips: hold down the button to reset.

However, you need the remote to show street when the radio is on (mod button), to set the date and time, and of course to use the sat nav.

I think the sat nav is pretty good (most people disagree).

Hi Folks, just thought I would say that I managed to get a sat-nav remote and a disc for £40 from eBay, but people seem to be more aware now about how much they are worth...! I simply lend mine to my friends with 406's twice a year to adjust their clock.
rwb is spot on with description for using the display and I also agree that the 406 sat-nav is excellent as it works by street name and house number, not postcodes which I find less accurate. It even knew what street I used when I did a 3 point turn. Has been very reliable so far, just need a newer disc as mine is 2002..!!
If anyone has a spare mfd in silver with remote then a friend of mine needs one as he has more black lines than screen - not sure if this can be fixed or not?
