Is that the tool i'd need then? i just noticed i got almost that in my paypal so it could be a late b'day prezzie... unless wifey has it spent already.

On that note then pro's and cons of remap, firstly insurance (possible con?) bhp (big pro?)... MOT time is it a problem? and the mpg? i got to try and sell this to wifey and them tossers who i pay silly money to insure my car.

I know wifey will love the extra bhp but is there anything mechanical i need to do first?

Hi Doggy, thanks for the tip. I am in Bournemouth but I am happy to travel say 50 miles or so for some friendly help. I can probably borrow a laptop but as you say, best find a genuine siemens 90 remap file first.....
I won't tell the insurance company as I already pay £350 a year for a dog slow estate - I could insure an Escort Cosworth for £550.. I'm sure the MOT garage don't check ECU, maybe only piggy back ones that plug into commonrail.
I have read most of the posts on this forum about doing the remap at home, so I am fairly confident. I may just re-read before taking the plunge... I can't think of any reason not to remap the car, hopefully will be better mpg as less throttle needed to get the old girl rolling.
I guess the proof is in the pudding......
