i hope they will gain about 6-7 bhp and 10 lb/ft of torque
but the main improvement will be the throttle response and added length of the power band

you have the 1.8 16v?
if so your biggest restriction are the port sizes peugeot made them stupidly small to keep the power down on the engine so it would provide i definitive difference between the 1.6>1.8>2.0l in the ranges get a die grinder out and open up the ports a bit

ahhhh ok then well then theres negligable difference in the whole engine to the gti6 setup then,epsecially since you have an early one which would mean you will Likely have the piston spray bars aswell meaning your bottom end is almost identical to the gti6
i would be quite tempted to steal the inlet +exhaust manifolds aswell, you wont be able to use the ecu however as the gti6 use COP (Coil on plug) and relys on a camshaft sensor aswell which your head will not have.
people will harp on about the gti6's double valve springs etc etc in the real world it makes no difference the 2l 16v is 90% as good with those parts and a remap

If I knew how to go about grinding the ports out abit I would but don't have the experience on piston engines or tools to do so.........only engines i've played about with are small gas turbine jets at uni

only the very late 306 gti6 with L4 emission control will have sequential fuel injection necessitating the need for a cam angle sensor
i have already got a gti6 exhaust manifold just cant be botherd to fit that either

its not just sequential injection which need the cam sensor the gti6 engine uses coil on plug, ths meaning 4 coils not wasted spark. you need the cam sensor to identify the cylinder that needs firing out of the 2 at top stroke. the cam sensor on the gti6 has nothng to do with emissions or sequential injection:P
as you will know each cylinder only fires every 720 degrees of crank rotation on a 4 stroke you need the cam sensor to run cop with non wasted spark.

i never knew the gti6 had a direct ignition system, thats obviously why it has a completley different management to the ordinary 2.0 16v
just a quick thought, will the inlet cam fit as it will have a reference mark for the hall effect in the cam angle sensor

yes will fit your head even has the casting for the sensor on the front its just not drilled on the left hand side above the top engine mount)
from what i remember the s16/iron block mi16 also ran COP before the gti6 and that dates to 1992/3 peugeot were very early for this sort of technology, although in real terms it offers no benefits over a normal wasted spark system except prolonged spark plug life.

the 1.8 16v engine is a stonker and is what the 205T16 is based on and what the current PSA wrc cars run bored out to 2l (xsara and old 206/307 with a modded mi16 head on them) and we can see how well loeb does in that.
many people rate this more than the 405t16 iron block engine, the 405t16 was based on a 2l iron block s16 lump.
its definatly an engine that can give good results when tuning but people over look it and go straight for the gti6 etc

cheers malachy, do you think its worth getting a gti6 inlet manifold?
i cant see it making any difference whatsoever, the plastic one i have looks quite well designed
