@ dieselink
alot of us on here have had the heater blower problems,
start off with the basics, iwent straight to the ign barrel after following the advice of afew chaps on here, wiggled the wires heater blower burst into life,
it lasted abit after that,

theres plenty of stuff on here about all this, its just trial and error working your way through it all,
406s are good reliable motors once all the little faults are sorted 8)

The easiest way to check if the control module is the problem (usually is on the 2001 on cars) is to check if the red and black wires at the passenger's side of the module (located behind the centre console) are live or not....engine must be running to check if live!!!

If there is a live then the module is ok.

If there is no live then the module is faulty.

This can be tested in 2 minutes with a test lamp.

Sometimes wiggling the module connectors brings on the fan at full speed.

hi,

I'm a keen "listener" to all posts regarding ventilation fan, although most people her seem to have a never model than I. Mine is a 1997 2.1 td, and I have looked around for the vntrol module suugested in this line of posts. The closest post I found relating to my situation seems to be "Blower gone into overdrive!" Postby plod » Wed Mar 21, 2012 9:27 pm.

Do any of you know how these control modules work ? I think the control module is in my case mounted on the ventilation fan housing itself. has the shape of a boomerang with fins and lsome power transistors by the look of it. The symptom I had was the fan running on nearly ful blast. I replaced this unit with a brand new spare, and now the fan doesn't operate at all regardless of setting. So I've been looking for some description of how these units works; the ventilation control unit on the facia, the motor control unit (may be called reesister).

I made a post to the mentioned string where I referred the measurements I did. I still have to do the same measurements with the ventilation fan connected.

SO if you guys have any description of how the ventilation fan is controlled and operates, please let me know.

Best regards from Marius

The fan speed will work as normal if you bypass it the right way,
thats if the module thing is working correctly, thats held in place by 2 8mm torques screws iirc
surely you shouid of seen it if youve had the side console off,
