With car companies fighting for survival I suppose it makes sense for them to join forces to share costs. It'll probably end up with one company selling one range of cars but all with different badges. Owned by China :(

No car company can exist on it's own anymore.

Its better that PSA joins up with GM than goes out of business and dissapears. Though don't let them take full control and do a Saab!

It'll give PSA access to GMs emerging leccy/hybrid tech, such as the Volt etc. and GMs 4x4 platforms, instead of using Mitsubishi.
It'll give GM access to HDis, as they can't continue to licence Fiat and Izusu diesel engines.

That is a Peugeot Pars, it is basically a facelifted 405 sold in Iran.

Iran gets some interesting PSA products, such as a 405-bodied Chrysler Avenger and a C6-facelifted Xantia.

Yep peugeot can't let them take too big a share, Would the volt hybrid technology be any good when peugeot now has the diesel hybrid stuff coming out?

The Volt is meant to be a good electric car let down by a heavy petrol engine.

Paired up to a small HDi you'd be looking 100mpg+

Is that the chevrolet volt/vauxhall ampera, they claim to get 300mpg
With a small hdi as the generator you would have to pull in to drain off the excess diesel :cheesy:
Although being a merger they could possibly get it all wrong, another alfa arna. Peugeot would do the electrics and GM supply a diesel engine :cheesy:

Anyhow enough of not liking GM, renault nissan is increasing its share in Autovaz/lada and dacia is coming to the uk

Arna. What a shambles.

Sometimes I wonder if something like a Brera had a Japanese drivetrain and electrics, it would be perfect.

What they did was take a Japanese styled car and give it Alfa electrics.

Fiat previously had a deal with GM, and supplied diesels to them.
Saabs ended up with Alfa JTDs etc.

Fiats deal with PSA I think was for vans and MPVs?

The new Lancia MPV is literally a Voyager. Not sure about the Fiat one.

Will they have rebadged Ivecos as their small vans then?

Word on the street was that they were going to sell the Peugeot Boxer / Fiat Ducato as a Dodge RAM van.

The estates do look very similar.

Look good though, not like greenhouses or hearses.
