Well guys, last night whilst I was driving over to see the missus through a busy part of town my car alarm went off. Its been acting funny since I got the car but it was generally just a squeak every few days and I wasn't that bothered about it. But last night I managed to attract everyones attention and had to pull the car over, lift the bonnet and play about with the wiring for a minute until I could get the damn thing shut off Anyone got any experience with these systems, The siren is located in the passenger wing somewhere and theres another box under the drivers seat related to it. I want to permanently disconnect it but worried that if I start cutting wires the immobiliser will stop me from starting the car. Help please lol
Okies, just to finish this thread off, I found the alarm siren tucked away in the passenger side wing after removing the wheel and splash guard. I then cut the wires to the siren to find out that it had a built in backup battery, and a really good one for being 17yrs old so with the siren blaring away I lifted out the fuse/relay box in the engine bay to gain access to the 2 bolts which held the siren unit to the car. Luckily they came off pretty quickly and I got the siren removed and smothered in a cloth removed the now pointless wires when I was at it After screwing everything back together the car starts and runs/locks etc. without any problems. So it was a pain in the arse problem fairly easily solved
