Could that be of any use at the moment?
Cheers mate but I don't want to scare myself. Other than the initial £5000 outlay I don't think it in terms of running costs it will be any more expensive to run than the 406.
Difference being if the clutch or the fuel pump went on my 406 I would scrap it, if it went on the Mondie I would have to get it fixed :|

The Ford TDCi (1.6, 1.4, 2.0 (16v), 2.2(16v) and 2.7) are all Pug engines.

Had a play with my Uncles C5 yesterday. 2.0 VTR+ on a 58 Plate with 24k on the clock.
Took it to a local mapper who tried to remove the DPF and failed.
There is an ABS problem (ABS Sensor?)
The electric wing mirrors don't work (But they still fold)
And he bumped the front wing and back bumper.

Wondering if I should make him an offer for it.

I guess the insurance on a 2.7HDi car is too much for you?

Whats the insurance like for a c4 2.0 HDi? They are indeed a hatchback, but then you get a more useful boot.

Group 19 or 21.

They're pretty good looking. It's just a shame that small cars have such naff interiors.

Can't see any for under £3k. Might as well have a 407 and have some comfort, space, and toys.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.

Group 19 for a C4 :supafrisk: , the 406 sits in 12.

I had a look on auto trader, its group 10 for the 2.0hdi, the 1.6 if it didn't eat turbos it would be sufficient and is cheaper to insure.
Here is a nice one:

There appear to be two scales for insurance group. Parkers use one and Autotrader use the other
On the Parkers scale (which puts the C4 into groups 19 and 21) the 406 is in group 23.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

If you are going for a mondeo why not just go for an S-type 2.7HDi? Is the insurance too high?
