106 none start

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

106 none start

Post by craigtd »

Hi, I no this is a 406 site but i have a friend with a 106 with a starting problem,
the car is a 106, 1.4 cc petrol on a M.Reg, The problem we have is when you lock the car with the key or the central locking phob it locks fine, but when you come back to it after a while and open the car with the key or the central locking phob the car wont start, but if you lock-unlock-lock-unlock a few times it will start first turn of the key, when it doesnt start its as if the battery is flat as all the dash lights are dim, but like i say if you lock and unlock it a few times it works ok,

any help on this would be great.

no electric windows, i was thinking the same about the loom to the doors for the central locking as 306's used to suffer from the same kind of fault

it was a N reg 306 ihad this trouble with, one of the reasons imentioned the door loom,
also if your not on the standard key fob and its on some kind of aftermarket locking kit, check the control box is not wet through
some people just put the box in the door to save hastle but it gets soaked,
but if your on the original central locking ignore that,

forgot to say sometimes when you lock the car with the phob (it is the origanal) the indicators sometimes stay on,so you have to unlock and lock again, ive checked the back lights for bad earths and corrosion but there fine ????????

i used to have a citreon zx 1.9D and i had a fault like this on that and it turned out to be the imobiliser realy under the bonnet, im not sure if the 106 has a realy for the imobiliser or if it runs off the central locking one :?: :?: :?:
