Re: My latest MPG
Far better than I thought it would be. Admittedly my journey started at 0440hrs so way up was empty but had some traffic on return. Normally on school run I get 57.7.mpg or 62.8mpg on run to work - this however was excellent! I am confident it cannot be 45p/mile to run this car! In fact I had been casually eyeing up C220CDIs and exchange a little fuel economy for a solid german car with cruise control but I have rarely seen anyone talk of figures higher than 48mpg or so in those. Over a year that is too much. I would really like a 520d which even as an auto, does 60.1mpg so perhaps 65 the way I drive. however they are currently around £10-12K so maybe I will soldier on with the 406 until she properly dies and then go for it. I have considered the 407 but I have yet to hear any good press about them. Indeed a recent colleague said the 1.6HDI has a fault that melts engine components due location of turbo!
The current fabia greenline II does 95mpg extra urban! no tax - who needs a prius?

Re: My latest MPG
How far exactly are these "school runs?"
Re: My latest MPG
School run is 26m roundtrip.dual carriageway mainly. Run to work is 90m roundtrip, generally at anti-social hours...

Re: My latest MPG
Thats fair enough then, our shool runs are 6 miles and were doing about 36mpg around here the car rarely reaches temp... your getting some good mpg there.EDWARD757 wrote:School run is 26m roundtrip.dual carriageway mainly. Run to work is 90m roundtrip, generally at anti-social hours...
