4 way splitter

Post by scotty73 »

Bit of advice, I used to have a 2 way one of these that i thought worked until i last went camping but when i tried plugging in my sat nav and coolbox neither of them worked, so i need a new one for the next bank holiday trip to take my daughter to perform in the eistedfodd for at least 3 days so will basically need my coolbox to work on the journey up.

Main question is the more things i charge while driving am i draining my battery? there will be the sat nav and coolbox at least but you know what kids are like they see this and want to charge a phone or even take the portable dvd player so it could be working its arse off.

I've used a 2-way one with a cool box and sat nav before without issues - the consumption on your sat nav will be vitually neglible. Don't be tempted to put a bigger fuse in either the car's fusebox, (it's already 20A), or the adapter.

You won't drain your battery, so long as the engine's running. If you stop for more than 10/15 minutes, unplug your coolbox.

I remember reading a review when i bought my coolbox some bloke claimed it flattened his battery but the daft git probably ran it for the weekend expecting his car to be fine on start up.

If it wernt for that i'd have never asked!

@scotty, instead of buying them crap things, why not go to ascrap yard, look in picassos and stuff like that
and just grab the Aux sockets from them, fit them in the car where needed, Much tidier than them cheapo things, and no wires all over
