Hi all,
Peugeot 406 1.9td.
Strange question, but one I need to satisfy my curiosity with:-
Last week I had my front shock absorbers changed at a local garage, a few thousand miles ago when I had the car. The suspension was always very forgiving and smooth over bumps. Now with the new ones fitted it feels like its not so compliant. Still stable but slightly stiffer and more crashy over bumps.
I didn't own the car from new, so dont know what it should have been like from the factory, can anybody else describe how they think the suspension should feel like on these cars.
On a side note I did see that the 1.9td shock was a different part to the petrol version. I wonder If he's fitted the wrong ones? or non Peugeot shocks?
Thanks
Austin

Ok, I'm going to get this sorted it's doing my head in, feels like a sports car suspension so it must be the wrong parts. Will be getting on to the mechanic ASAP.
Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem. My car was very smooth before changing the shock abs.
Does anyone know if part number 5202.R5 is the shock absorber for a 406 D8 2.0 from 98.

Re: Has the Mechanic fitted the wrong shocks?
I have now checked on Peugeot Service Box and found that the correct shock absorbers are 5202 Z4 and 5202 Z5.
Does anyone know which Peugeot the 5202 R5 and 5202 R6 fits. And can they be used for 406 D8 2.0 aut.
The wrong shock absorbers were installed by Peugeot stealer, but Im in Thailand and cannot talk to the mechanic.
Please help.
