Exhaust Repair ?

Post by gumby6371 »

The small blow in the exhaust has got a lot worse recently, my mate had a look and it's around the silencer. Hopefully it will be welded up on saturday.
As the car is an early non-cat model am I right in thinking if the silencer is fubared and I ended up chopping it out and welding in some straight pipe will it pass an MoT (assuming it's quiet enough).
I will replace it properly at some point but I haven't got the cash at the minute.

My exhaust snapped off at the part where the pipe goes into the silencer took to a welder he just cut in two places and welded a pipe in. Car passed its mot fine.
I think you should be okay from what you said. This year i've got a hole in the silencer already patched it up last year so i think i'll have to get a new exhaust...

Thanks for the offer Lozz, as far as I know the back box is ok. When I checked it a month ago it was blowing from a small hole on the silencer weld, I'll know better when it goes up on the ramps on saturday.
