done a few track days
i would try to find a airfield circuit to start with t o learn lines and theres plenty of run off for when you get it wrong.
if you drive the car there i would take at least one extra set of tires as you can get through a set in a few laps. but its best to trailer a car there if you can
only take spares that you can fit on the day[eg dont take a spare engine if it takes you a week to fit one]
make sure you know the rules of the track and that your car is legal for it[eg noise regs]
take plenty of petrol/water
take plenty of food
a tent gazebo and a few chairs are good as well
even on hot days pit aeras are always cold windy
check your insurance and that you have recovery
always take a mate that can drive in case you get hurt
make sure all fluids, brakes are spot on and make sure the car is 100% good as any weak spots will soon be found
dont try to drive 20 laps at once do 3 or 4 laps then come in have a break this is good for you and the car
do nt start off at 100mph take it slow at first learn the track, get your lines right and you will start going faster.
most track days are about £150-£270 so you can soon spend a lot of money so make sure your car is as good as it can be as you dont want to be replacing parts on the day
most people there will help you out if you have a problem
have fun :cheesy:

Do you mean trackdays? As this is a different thing from racing, racing is not allowed at trackdays. Whereabouts are you? I've done loads of trackdays in the Clio all over the country, can't get enough of them :) Once you're hooked that's it. All your spare cash will start to disappear....

Before you spend too much money on the car, spend some on tuition. The right instructor will make you much faster than any upgrade to the car. It's hillarious getting past someone that has spent £30k on a car but refuses to spend £30 on a lesson

A free way to make your car faster is to strip it right out. Weight reduction improves all aspects of the car and costs nothing. Tyres and brakes are the next thing. More power is generally last on the list.

Is it a Proton Compact GTi? Good choice I would say, same as a Mitsubishi Colt. Apparently the 1.8 turbo lancer evo engine is a straight swap (the colt/compact uses the same engine, minus the turbo).
