Close to buying a Mundaneo

Post by Bailes1992 »

I've decided to play it safe.
Saturday I went and test drove this...
http://www.carshop.co.uk/used-car/FORD/MONDEO/LB08VXZ

My Dad's meeting me down there at 12.30ish to see if we can strike up a deal on it.

Once I've been to the doctors for them to suck all the blood out of my arm

I will ask for a minimum of £500 for my 406, and I'm going to try knock a few hundred off for the cambelt.

Maximum I will pay is £5800 + 406. Think I will walk away after that.

I'l keep you posted :D

Higher the mileage the better

Got it for £5979 + my 406 (Which is a mess)

They are putting 12 months MOT on it tommorow, but I have to tax it.

I hope you steered clear of all their financial packages? the Supermarkets are cheap but they try to build up extras with Gap insurance, tyre insurance etc etc........

Looking forward to your reviews though :cheesy:

The mileage is high but to be fair it would have spent its life cruising the Motorways so very little clutch use and no soot-clogging etc.

Decent car for a lad of your age and they handle/ride nicely too. I bet its a minter though so you'll enjoy claying and waxing it to within an inch of its life

I have only one issue with Car Supermarkets; they seem to routinely change any tyre if it's at or below 2.5mm - that's fine BUT they seem to use the cheapest crappy tyres to replace them with :frown: I'd rather pay the additional money to get Michelin/Goodyear if I gad the opportunity.

Good luck with the car

Yeah the car has 3 dunlops and a brand new budget. Will get that changed asap.

Mileage is nothing to me, like you say it will have spent it's life on the motorway. It has abit of road rash (Stonechips) but no scratches or bumps, it's practically mint.

The car shop don't own any of the cars they sell. They take them off the leasing companys before they go to auction and if they don't sell after 90 days then they go to auction.

I could have brought it home today but it's having a free MOT tommorow and they will repair anything they find FOC. (It has 6 months MOT but somehow they are giving me a full 12 months, I didn't think that was possible but such is life).

I bought it cash, no finance, no warrenty and avoided the "GaurdX" they were pushing for me to buy with it's 'Lifetime' paint protection or some crap

Higher the mileage the better? How do you work that out,

Higher the mileage the lower its value, also the more chance somethings going to need replacing over alower mileage model,

so a if a car is high mileage it dont loose value?

Nowt wrong with acar with high mileage, 99-100 k for adiesel is nothing agreed
but iwas just stating from a buyers point of view, you couid haggle on that with the seller,

theres nothing wrong with mondeos but the values of them fall through the floor, my mate lost 2k on one in 2years,

I'm going to run this into the ground so that isn't an issue. It is the cheapest one with under 100k in the country.

Very nice car, i like the newer shape "casino royale" mondeos more than the shape before them, good luck with the new car and 97k miles is nothing on a diesel especially if its been used sensibly on a motorway and continues to be looked after.

3 mths is not too bad,
yeah true them warranty covers have clauses in them, my mate took on out on his car, when he read the small print it was only some costs of parts that where coverd, not labour, clutch and Dmf was excluded so he canceld it,

ibet you will save a few quid on that on insurance compared to the peugeot,
