406 aircon not working
Hi,
I have a 2000yr 406 glx 2.0 hdi with digi a.c, Have had system re-gassed. still didn't work. have read that the cooling fan has to work on low speed for the compressor to cut in. is this true?
I looked at the resistors in the fan unit and black covered one was broken i replaced it still no a.c, Which resistor does the low speed. there is a grey covered one and the black covered one.
I tested the fan by disconnecting the temp sensor plug, it runs on high speed ok, a.c still didn't cut in
Any other ideas on what it could be?
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum,
1st question, when you turn the aircon on with Engine running can you hear any Clicks?
if theres no click or and sighn of life from the Compressor, icarnt see how your a/c system as been Re gassed,
the compressor needs to be active for them to Vacume out and re fill the system,

Hi,
It was done at my work place, machine recovered some gas and injected new gas, Aparrently the compressor did kick in but no cold air coming out of the vents. since then the compressor doesn't click when you press the switch.
no leaks were detected

Re: 406 aircon not working
I too have aircon problems. I have 2.0l hdi d9 w plated. I have gassed air con but the compressor wont kick in, no click heard.
I have tested with a multimeter on the two wire connector to compressor pump and am getting no reading i am guesing one is + and the other-. Haynes has no wiring for aircon.
on the condensor is a 4 wire plug only one wire has 12v to it.
i connected peugeot planet and heard nothing on actuator test but engine was running.
Any help please, i have read of BSI problems but cannot find this

Re: 406 aircon not working
What about the pressure switch on the aircon system? Just a thought. If it's not sensing pressure it'll hold the compressor off.

Re: 406 aircon not working
I thought the bit on the condensor was the pressure switch. It has a four wire plug to it
Re: 406 aircon not working
Or to put simply where is the low pressure switch
Re: 406 aircon not working
As gramere said the pressure switch is worth looking at, it is
on the left side of condensor looking from front.

i spent a lot of time and money on my ac until i traced it to this , the green stuff
is the refrigerant leeking out

.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron
Re: 406 aircon not working
But by bridging these i should get compressor to kick in? I have 12v coming down one wire to the switch

Re: 406 aircon not working
It could also be the relay in the BSI which feeds power to teh compressor refusing to work, it's a pretty common fault.

Re: 406 aircon not working
I heard that how do i remove to test where is it. Also could i jump the compressor ie provide 12v to it to get it workingOdinEidolon wrote:It could also be the relay in the BSI which feeds power to teh compressor refusing to work, it's a pretty common fault.

Re: 406 aircon not working
unplug the conector from the compressor and see if theres power,pigboy306 wrote:I heard that how do i remove to test where is it. you can run 12v to the compressor, but its Dodgey, if the compressor locks up it can do damage
Re: 406 aircon not working
If iwas going to test a compressor iwouid Take the Aux belt off,
put a 12v feed to the compressor
and then turn the pulley if it locks then the compressor is fine, iwouidnt send a direct feed to compressor with the engine running
the old d9 ihad ripped the bottom pulley off because the aircon compressor locked up,it was lucky it didnt strip the cambelt too,
