406 DB8 - Fuel Pump Problems ...

Post by BigMak »

Hi friends.

I have a 406 1.8 16V '97, LFY engine code.

Recently, the engine stutters and not above rpm smoothly.
I suspect that the fuel pump (gasoline) is broken.

A few questions:
1 - what it looks like the pump? Is it also includes a float?
2 - where exactly it is? Above the fuel tank under the back seat?
3 - would love to have a link for guide or pictures in order to get a better perspective.

Thanks, Ariel.

Hello,

Fuel pump, is located under back seat,
lift back seat and look for a Metal plate, it may have Rivets holding it in place,
iwouid look at other things that wouid cause the rough running before condeming the pump,
have you checked the Basics? plugs /coils petrol filter etc?

Hey.

Thanks for the detailed description of the fuel pump access.
Would love to see a picture of the place and the pump itself.

These things I know for sure:
1 - I put new plugs a month ago by ID and original manufacturer.
2 - Last week, the car engine went off and not started again. After several hours, the engine started back without a problem.
3 - about the fuel filter, I do not know if it was replaced and when.

I suspect one of two things:
1 - filter end.
2 - The fuel pump is defective.

Would love to know where the filter ? Was he right back under the vehicle ?

Ariel.

Hi mate, might be the idle stepper motor, check the "running and starting problems" sticky on this forum. Worth a shot, it's an easy job.
