walking your dog

Post by Gary406 »

just thought i would warn people when walkin their dogs. maybe this is just a wigan thing and doesnt happen everywere.

a friend of mine and his wife walked the dog up the canal. they stopped at a pub on the canal and the dog drank water from a tub provided by the pub in the front garden. half way home the dog collapsed and was dead 1 hour later. results showed anti freeze poisoning.

so when walking your dog take your own water and dont let them drink out of tubs provided as people are putting anti freeze in it. its happened twice near me. one was outside the shop pets at home.

Now that's evil :frown: I've no idea what sort of concentration is lethal but I'd suspect some sicko has tipped a bottle of glycol into a bowl some thoughtful person has put out. Thanks for the heads-up, my pa walks his dog further down south but I reckon it is indeed something to watch out for.

Oh bollox thats just wrong, thing is a dog will drink out of anything so we have to think more than normal and watch what the dog is up to.

i supose puddles and streams are fine. its bowls that people have put out in good will for dog walkers that seem to be getting spiked.

as of rivers and streams, some contain green Algae this is lethal to dogs and humans,
best to take water out with you in a washed out Milk carton, at least then you know your dogs are drinking clean water,

The only time ilet my dogs drink outside in the opens is where you get a flow coming through rocks/hills,
the rocks and bankings filter the water so its clear, drink it myself its as good as spring water,

As of the pub your friends dog had a drink at, id be Gripping the landlord, they shouid remove the Watering hole if its a hazzard to dogs

Ive heard of people putting it out for cats to drink because they dont want cats in the garden.

But for a pub to do it to a dog is a disgrace.

(Some nice pubs in Wigan btw, was there a few years ago. Though wouldn't recommend the hotel opposite the big debenhams)
