Has anyone got this and cant get rid???
I have so any idea's how to get rid easily would be appreciated,
I'm using Avg(free)
Malware
Spybot
and do scans weekly with no issues normally but yesterday spybot found 'Widgi toolbar' adware and i cant get rid.
normally its just a case of 'fix selected problems' and bobs your uncle but it wont fix this and the only way to close spybot is through the task manager.
a quick google shows some removal tool to get rid but im wary of this things unless someone has used them.
avg's scan didnt find anything and malware is currently doing a full scan but nowt found yet.
anyone else having problems with this ??

Re: Widgi Toolbar
If it's on your browser Slimcleaner should get rid of it - I've been using it for about 6 months and it seems pretty safe (unless you get carried away...). http://slimcleaner.com/ - install (just say no to the AVG toolbar
), run, browsers, kill it, uninstall. If not it'll be in the hyjacks. Alternatively I've been using superantispyware (sounds a bit naff dunnit?), the free version has no resident blocker (which is a good thing if Spybot's Teatimer turns your system into a slug at boot time) but it seems to find a whole load more stuff than Spybot. The free version also needs manual updating, there seems to be an update every day. Update, scan, get rid, uninstall. http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

I used to use spybot but superantispyware and ccleaner seem to work quite well together... also if its a facebook game problem malwarebytes can come in handy.

Re: Widgi Toolbar
my dads computer keeps changing the homepage to other search engines imesh is normally the one and some other one they are useless search engines, but its annoying how they change the homepage themselves, and all the toolbars that internet explorer picks up there is hardly any webpage to look at with so many useless toolbars.
Thats why i prefer to use google chrome it doesn't change the search engine or have useless toolbars.

Re: Widgi Toolbar
Installers can be a nightmare these days. Click the defaults and you end up with another toolbar and icons everywhere for it.
Re: Widgi Toolbar
worrying part is no matter where i look i DONT have that toolbar, i use Google chrome all the time and apparently this comes in on a IE update
http://www.wiki-security.com/wiki/Parasite/WidgiToolbar
i Do have servicebox installed on this pc now and that opens up IE to display so i'm wondering if thats how i got it as it was only about a week ago that i installed it??
anyway i do have ccleaner as well as the others mentioned and i appear to have got rid. I expecte it to return on startup this morning but Spybot, when run as administrator didnt find it.
