Just bought a pair of rear drop links/top links, the horizontal ones, Haynes manual says I should replace the pivot bolt and nut, anyone know what size it is.
Cheers

Thats true, but unfortunately there are a few like me that are mechanically inept and rely on Haynes to sort out problems, luckily I can use this forum and vast experience and use Haynes as a bit of light reading material,

I'm trying to remember off the top of my head but if it's the nut and bolt that i'm thinking of which changes the camber of the tyres, then i think it is 5/8 inch.
I can't be 100% sure as it was a week ago when i last did them.
Thanks for the replies, but I've hit another snag. Changed O/S link with no problems, plenty of WD40 and 2 ratchet spanners took about 20 mins, so yesterday I thought nothing of doing the other one during my lunch break. Again plenty of WD40 2 ratchet spanners and , SNAP. I've sheared the bolt, managed to do a temporary fix with a standard bolt hoping the dealers might have one, but they havn't. So does anyone know where else I can get one from? I've had a look on ebay but found nothing the part number is 5132 59
Cheers

Hi Dan,
if the dealers dont have them they shouid of atleast offerd to have orderd one in from stock from another branch,
go back and ask them to order one in,
they shouid have these in stock atleast somewhere even at another location /branch, the 406 is not obsolete yet..
Another way round this is to go to a breakers and get a nut and bolt i grabbed a pair of them. my 406 is aD9 i think they are the same on the D8 I keep a spare set of these when i do the the stabiliser links and at least if it snaps i'm covered. Can't always get to main dealer as its a 40 mile round trip.
Heres a pic of the nuts and bolts: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/49152307/DSCF0993.JPG
Its a 16mm spanner both ends if that helps. Let us know how you get on. When you put them back use plenty of copaslip on the nut and bolt saves a lot of hassle next time......
