It was outside their house.. not on the "driveway".

There's no way I am filling their pockets with this ridiculous "fine"... Go find some terrorists or something.

Hey dude I'm not saying it's right, I think it's very very harsh, but I can't see you winning this one . The offence is "not displaying a current valid tax disc" and you weren't, therefore you are guilty of that offence, whether or not you'd already bought the disc is irrelevant.

That's why I was asking whether the land it's parked on is private, because if it is I don't think they could enforce the penalty, but if it isn't you're fekked IMHO.

Your only hope will be to play the card of the letter as you said earlier, but I'd be tempted to re-wite it as "I've been ill, already got the disc but was too I'll to go 'round there and put it in the car, come on, have a heart.... ". Go in there all guns blazing and they'll just tell you to take a long walk off a short pier

Failure to ask his parents to affix Tax Disc in screen wrote:Upon returning home on the 10th January ‘07,Blah de blah de blah................
Captain, as said, go for the ''I am sorry, I was ill and couldn't arrange to fix it to the screen but at least I did tax it'' story.

I mean no offence by this but you could even try ''my parents are elderly and I didn't think they would know what to do'' sort of thing??

Thanks for all the advice peeps.

There is another half baked up excuse I could use I guess along with the illness thing. The car was at my parents' place but straight after Christmas I went home (which is an hour away). So really didn't have a chance to put it on anyway. What do you think?

I know it's an "offence" not to display the ticket, but I just think it's SUCH a bad "law"... We're in the 21st century, surely a simple check with DVLA can clear these silly things up!

*Annoyed*

On the bright side, I picked up my car (WITH the tax disc!) on Friday and am back on the road! Oh, I missed those leather seats... Will need them for travelling to the new work place in Swindon which will be up to an hour long :|

Nice try, but I don't think they will buy that one, no matter how much of a 'nice christmas' you had.

Your car will be given a good run then soon eh? Swindon.......Is that the grim 1970's offices and concrete flyovers? at least your only working there :P
