New member from Ireland saying hello....

Post by Irish406 »

Hello folks, Name's Eoin (same as Owen)
I'm based on the west coast in Southern Ireland (Sligo)
I'm sure I'll have lots of questions but I'll do my best to use the search first.

My new purchase....

Standard 1.8 petrol, 2000 with 129k miles.
Got no owners manual - Can I tell what model it is from the VIN alone?

It has the 'brake level low' msg but thanks to the this site I now have the solution :)

Immediate plans
Get a manual/service book
Get wind deflectors
Get the buttons on the remote central locking sorted
CD player

Future plans
Upgrade the interior to seats with driver arm rest
Alloys
Replace Drivers side rear door (Badly scrapped)

Eoin

Hi, Eoin and welcome to the site. 8)

Nice looking car you have there.

Have a look around - there's plenty of useful info, feel free to ask if you don't find all the answers easily. :)
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Thanks a mill...so far so good...lots of helpful info..

One question - Is there specific sponsor area or members that specialise in 406 specific stuff?

ie A sponsor or member that fixes the remote key fobs as a service?

I see I can get it done on ebay but I'd rather give the support here if it was available.

Hi Eoin,welcome to the forum.
Nice peugeot,love the color,very tidy.

Didnt understood you quite (must be my poor english) but if you are preffering to remote key not funkcioning, the solution is simple:
replace the battery, put the key into ignition, turn it and keep pressed key for about 20 seconds, turn back key, pull it out and the key should be fine.
If that doesnt work, than the central unit is dead.

Anyway, welcome, love the irish song on eurosong :cheesy:

Sorry, didn't explain it well...the 2 buttons on my keyfob are damaged (Battery is fine). I saw someone does a repair on these on ebay. But was wondering if there was anyone here that provided the same service. Just rather support a club where possible, that all.

Cheers for the welcome.
