Trimming Rear grab handles

would it be possible to trim the rear grab handles in something like alacantra, at the moment they are very flaky and its impossible to get anything to replicate their original finish and every car in breakers yards usually is the same or worse. Does the stuff just stick in place or is heat required?

Its the grab handles in the back doors of the 406 the grippy soft suface that was originally there is nearly all peeled away and i was wondering could they be removed from the door card and trimmed in some sort of fabric such as alacantra or suede etc. Ive seen rally car dashboards and steering wheels, getting trimmed with the stuff.

I'm looking at doing mine I was thinking painting got to grab spare one from scrappy and try it see how it looks

tbh. id find someone who deals with leather,
or maybe someone you know who can use a machine, trim them in leather mate, theyd look better than some stick on cloth thatd end up soaking up
dirt from peoples hands

leather trimmers then, ill have a look on google, the reason i was thinking of suede or alacantra is they are much thinner materials and it would mean the electric window switch would fit back into place nicely, dirty hands wouldn't be a worry, and also if these materials are available cheap on ebay it saves a bit of money, getting a professional to do it would probably cost £50

No good Ive put the d9 leather door cards On me d8 now I might look at pricing on that leather think it would look smart done properly

all the rally cars seem to have it on them and its a really nice material it seems to hold up well to wear and dirt if its used in a rally car, i was also thinking of trimming the wing mirror covers with the stuff, its a fairly easy looking part to cover.

Of course that's covering a full dash a bit over the top, but a bit of alacantra covering the wing mirror covers would be nice, anything to get rid of black shiny plastic.
