Non-Genuine sensors.

So, my 407 developed an ABS/ESP warning, borrowed my mates Launch diagnostic kit to test the system, fault found is n/s rear ABS sensor short circuit.

Bought a new sensor from my local supplier for £20, fitted it the other day, quite an easy job....fault still there grrrr

Tempted to take the sensor back, but was told sensors are non returnable.

Anyway, I decide to cut the wires on the sensor to have a look, 2 wires, one black, one white....decide to connect the wires black to white, white to black.

BINGO!! fault cleared and all is well

If the genuine one's much more than £20, I'd say you've done the right thing.

They're Hall-effect sensors with integral transistors, AFAIK, therefore polarity sensitve.

Almost £50 for a new one retail, £44 including vat.

Couldn't belive reversing the wires sorted the problem!

nice fix there jasper where did you get the sensor from ?? last year i changed both my rears using eurocarparts sensors, i think they were about £25 a side

Got the sensor from my local factor, i use them for most things.
