Bailes
if iwhere you id be adamant the car goes into ford for diagnostic,
other than that ithink you will be chasing your own tail,

no offence on halfords but ithink they shouid part with a bit more than 49.99 on a halfords diagnostic
id be fuming if id payd that sort of coin for a car and they scrimp like that, :?

I think it should go to a Ford dealer to sort out.

It must be a bit of a nightmare selling used motors these days with all the electronic stuff going wrong. The smallish Car Supermarket I bought the 406 from went bust last year, they were FAR too accommodating when it came to Warranty work and lending you loan cars etc I think it must have drained their profits. When I collected the 406 I got presented with an enormous bunch of Flowers  :?

We have 4 Peugeot Experts at work and the lease company insist on Halfords to do repairs, one of the vans keeps going into limp mode and it's been back 5 times and all they do is clear the fault and tell the driver to see how it goes, sometimes it'll last a fortnight or sometimes a day or so,it had to go to main dealers in the end,it was the EGR valve, not rocket science to find i would have thought but Halfords couldn't do it.I think with servicing there fine but don't know about anything else although it all depends who is working there i suppose. If you had been a self employed worker you would have been so out of pocket with that van.

Ithink the trouble is with some modern cars is the software,
cars like fords, if you took it into the maindealer they wouid go through it all check for faults if there arnt any, update the software,
idont think the likes of halfords wouid have the access nor the rights to use the software, and if they did idont think theyd do it

iirc ford charge 99.99 for diagnostics, abit more expensive than 49.99 iknow which one id go for,

potnoodle or steak and chips sir ?

I think I might have touched a nerve with the pipe & slippers thing, huh :cheesy:

The hairdressing tools would be somewhat wasted on me. I can barely operate my own hairbrush and towel, and I occasionally remember to get my hair cut (£9 from the local I-don't-give-a-f*ck-about-expensive-hairdos gents walk-in hairdresser) too.

What I actually got when I picked up the Coupe was garage bills (timing belt, amongst other things) and nearly £3k debt (because I took out a loan to buy the car). Hey, the loan's not far off being paid-up!

I got a set of tyres with the Toyotter :| Although when I had the emissions diagnosed I got a wooden keyring, a tiny triangular ice scraper and a pen, all splashed with the dealer's name. The keyring's in a draw somewhere because I have a big bright rubber "you'll never spend 2 days looking for your keys in the snow again" one already, the ice scraper's too small to be any use but I needed the pen the other day - quelle surprise, it doesn't work
