i think them kv6 engines are a nightmare to change the timing belt on, and then there is also the worry of head gasket issues. Although didn't rover offer them with lpg from the factory?
Also would you not be a bit worried having all that power and them microscopic brake disks

Im not sure on the petrol ones fp,

one thing is for certain is iwouidnt have one, (Deisel for me methinks!)
iwas told they come with two differnt engines, one is ford based and the other is a Rover built one, idont know how true that is tho,

the only ford based engine was the 4.6 v8 from the mustang but thats not really a practical choice. all the other petrol engines are rovers own k series engines

I remember MR2s that had bodykits to look like 355s.
Wasnt a bad conversion.
