baldie tyres
after 2 years the pirelli p6000s on the front are a bit worn out the uneven tyre wear is whats done the harm. the tyre place is £130 for the same again and 4 wheel alignement but i think its a good time to change to 16 inch wheels ive been looking for some nimrods ebay has some listing 221007149934.
what is the other choices (hoggars?) ive been told to avoid using spacers by the 406 breaker because they can go out of balance, is there any suitable 17" alloys or would they be a bit too choppy over bumpy roads

Re: baldie tyres
Don't go for 17" wheels. Get standard Peugeot 16" wheels at most.
Tyre-wise I'd go for Kumho's now all day long.

Re: baldie tyres
Also thinking of changing from the standard steel rims so I'd be keen to hear wheel/tyre advise also.
16' the way to go?

Re: baldie tyres
I just think 16" looks correct on the 406. They're a difficult car to match wheels to unless you lower the sussy etc etc.
I think the 16" wheels on the 04-reg cars looked the best, you also need to think about the ride comfort - most people enjoy the comfort of the 406 and smaller wheels with squishy tyres fit the bill nicely.

Re: baldie tyres
I'm lowering mine 40mm and putting 225 45 17 instead of 205 40 17 should make it a little softer

Re: baldie tyres
Idont think it wouid matter what size wheels you have on the 406s
ive seen someone with 19s on one it looks daft but it dont bother the car,

Re: baldie tyres
the incorrect speedo is a valid point i think 16 inch is best but looking at some nimrods they look a bit plain.
wolfrace ones look very nice a bit sportier especially the two tone black/normal alloy silver ones. are wolfrace good alloys

Re: baldie tyres
the original alloys are the rapier ones they are a bit small and i dont like the design of them, nimrods look a lot better and i think should have been there originally at least according to servicebox the car was on 16" wheels so someone has changed them at some point
