I, Welton, have shopped ''on line'' for the first time!

Post by Welly »

As you may know, I don't like computers that much, don't trust anyone, hate modern technology, hate ipods, mobiles, MP3's, I am a traditional sort of chap prefering to look out at the world and mock modern ways and trying to keep a sense of reality and traditional values.

Anyway, my 8 year old daughter wanted a Tamagotchi Version '4', fairly new on the market, so last Saturday we went into town polluting the atmosphere and wearing my car tyres as we went along.

Paid to park, walked around from shop to shop getting the knock back because they had none in stock, got piss soaking wet, got coughed over by numerous people with snotty colds, ended up buying other stuff just because we were ''at the shops'', bought a drink and a snack,.....you know the score.

Anyway, I decided to order the thing from Amazon on Sunday, big step for me into the unknown  well, bugger me it turned up at my office today without any fuss.

I fully understand how the High Streets have been moaning about trade, Internet shopping is a doddle is'nt it? you don't have to go anywhere, someone brings the stuff to you, and it's cheaper.

I suppose the high street of the future may be completely different to now, allthough I must admit that buying clothes and shoes on line wouldn't suit me that much.

What do you do????

I work for PC World along with buying off the web we also offer a Collect @ Store, customers do all the browsing on the web, reserve the item and then just pop down to the store, pay and take the goods, works great and guarantees that the product is there waiting for them, I dont think that the high street will ever disapear but that the web and high street will combine more on to one,

Argos does the collect at store thing too which is good as it lets you check availability before you get off your arse.

I used to do all my food shopping from tescos over the net until i got a car :) Now I do it in person after 11pm and usually end up coming out with £50 worth of shopping when I only went in for some bog roll... and I'll always forget the bog roll...

Nah, just cos it's nice and empty. Parking right outside the door, no stupid meandering grannies, no people suddenly stopping for no reason in the middle of the aisle, no queue for the tills, no grannies having a natter at the tills, 5 minutes to chuck a load of stuff in a trolly and get out the doors. No hassle :D

I do loads of shopping on line, it's mostly very very easy and there are some huge savings to be had :P We get gadgets, toys, music, dvds, games, white goods, insurance, pretty much everything. I even bought the last few sets of tyres online, and taxed the cars.

This week I'm expecting delivery of a keyboard and mouse for my new office, extension leads and surge protectors for my new office, and a new monitor for home (bet you can't guess where my old monitor is going??? :cheesy: )

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT PCWORLD

I spent the best part of £500 this month on an Xbox 360 bundle with extras galore.... it lasted 4 hours when I first got it! So the exchanged it and all seems good so far! But PC World is the most overpriced PC store in the world! Use Ebuyer, better quality and cheaper prices ! ! ! :D

OK rant over lol

WELL done WELLY ! ! ! Now you just need to get yourself an iPod for your office ! ! ! lol

LOL

I didn't say that, I was implying that the stuff they stock is proper low quality and over priced !

But, PC worlds customer service is piss poor.... I'm still waiting 2 weeks later for a response to my complaint email... and the guys in my local store are clueless 16 year olds earning pocket money ! lol

I like to go to PC World... They have so much RFC1149-compliant stuff in there it's amazing, but you need to ask a salesman what supports it because they don't put it on the labels. Shame the stuff they have that supports it only seems to be their most expensive products...

Lying bunch of clueless idiots! Every single time I've ever asked I've been shown a product that they claim supports Internet Protocol over carrier pigeon.
