White D9 Dials....Will They Fit?

White D9 Dials....Will They Fit?

Hey guys,
I have been offered a set of those cool white dials with chrome rings from a HDi model. My car is a D9 (2000 x reg executive) and I want to fit these white dials to my car.

However the white dial cluster has five dials, but my car only has four. My car has fuel on left, rev counter, speedo and engine temp on right. In the middle I just have a peugeot logo.

I am now unsure wether the dials would fit correctly, and wether all of the instruments would work correctly?

Also is it true that my vehicles mileage is stored on the ECU, and by fitting a new set of dials will not alter any current mileage reading?

the HDi dials wont work as yours is a petrol, and the BSi will add the mileage stored in itself to the mileage stored in the dials

I want to install the white set with the rings into my D9, but I dont want to add the extra mileage, and I dont want to touch or remove the needles in case of messing up the calibration. (Did this on my Rover 214 and it was a complete pain in the arse and the biggest mistake ever!)

How easy would it be to dismantle a set of dial from a HDi, take out the white inserts and chrome rings and swap them with my set, or is it a sealed unit?

So I am effectively only swapping the plastic inserts and not the unit.

Views and experiance desperately needed before I spend any money, or start taking my D9 to peices.

i know the d8 dials can easily be dismantled but i doubt the d9 ones can as they are a lot more complex, also when i did the same thing to my d8, i still ended up with the wrong mileage, on a d8 you have to change the pcb to get the correct mileage, but i didnt bother, but on a d9 no matter how you do it, the mileage will be added together, the only way wround it is too buy brand new dials :shock:

Ok thanks. Doesn't look like it will be a mod that I can carry out then. Unless I go to my local dealer of course and shell out £300+ for a new set. :cry:
