Ever looked at a Mazda CX7

Post by Welly »

Sort of wondering/dithering whether to or not to change the old bus:

Reasons:

Lack of space for two tall teenagers.
Fuel economy.
Rising cost of repairs.
Getting bored of it after 3.5 years.

Anyhoo I'm sort of leaning towards a pot-hole smashing bruiser and came across one of these:

Image

Reading up on them they seem to be very capable/sporty and reliable but with poor fuel economy (2.3 4-cylinder turbo 4WD with 260bhp).

Seen a handfull of 57 and 08 platers in Petrol with about 30K miles advertised for £7,800.00 ish

That's a LOT of car for the money but wondering whether they'd be worth £7K this week and £1.82p next :|

Your local Kuhmo dealer has just been spotted turning cartwheels in the street.

I'd no idea there were quick versions. They don't appeal to me, (kinda poor mans Cayenne).
For me, if you want to drive on roads, get a 'normal' car, (if you can find one nowadays, what with all these cross-dressing Pukes an all).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Mmm, I suppose I've "fallen out" with the Volvo and it makes me then focus on what I don't like with it :|

I've found (an American  ) CX7 forum and found quite a few complaints of timing CHAINS failing  and oil finding its way (being forced) into the eggsauce. Plus the "claimed" 25mpg is a bit optimistic

Mazda dropped the Petrol completely in 2010 ish and now they're all Diesels.....wonder why?

Oh well, I guess the CX7 would be entertaining if someone else was picking up the tab :| shame because the 'package' looks bloody appealing to be fair - especially with the standard goodies you get :o

TBH I don't really think you're ready for serial Volvo ownership, aren't you about due a mid-life crisis red sports car?

(Like the 200SX I bought about 15 years ago).

I thought about having a mid-life crisis but it looked too expensive so I'll just stick with my boring life instead

How about a nice RAV4? It'0s also a Jap so reliability also went out of the window at the same time, plus I read that the build quality got even worse. You will also need one of these:

And maybe one of these:

How about spending an afternoon in one of those used car supermarkets? See what takes your fancy...

One of the best selling cars here - popular for a reason!

I'd say go for it - depending on spec. The 2.3T is meant to be MIGHTY thirsty!

Review of a CX5, which I assume like most manufacturers is the same SUV but photocopied at 75%.
