Re: Today I saw my first....
2012 Ford Focus saloon
On (Southern) Irish plates.
Looks good, like a mini-Mondeo and less Tortoise-like than the hatchback.
The UK does not get the saloon anymore, hence the interesting sighting of the spiritual successor to the Orion.

Re: Today I saw my first....
I don't think I ever saw one of them on the road.

So the engine rattled like a socket set in a tumble drier too...the Bagheera was created using stock Simca components, including the engines, gearbox and suspension elements

Re: Today I saw my first....
Even the wikipedia page says that about the bluebird they ended up in destruction derbies, they were a strongly built car.
Re: Today I saw my first....
Ah! Nissan Bluebird !
I'm a true expert on those cars (well, I used to be)!
Fantastic motor, I had 2 of these myself, the 1.8 was the best.

Re: Today I saw my first....
We didnt see most of them mate,
ithink most of them where Mainly sent to Austrailia,
ive had that many datsuns icarnt remeber whats what with them as of the Mk1/or phases etc,
We used to buy nissans /datsuns because they where cheap, the Bluebirds where a bit thirsty mind so things like the 100a /120y Sunnys etc where more favourite,
the Bluebirds where like the 406s very popualar as taxis

Re: Today I saw my first....
The Bluebird in the picture is the mark 2.
I started my apprenticeship in 1970 at a Skoda dealers who sold up and were bought out by a company that set up a Datsun dealership in 1974.
I met my wife way back when she was a customer, she had a brown 120Y with a brake fault.....we've been married 25 years in 3 weeks time.
Lozz, those Bluebirds were a pain for dirt/sand in the carb jets, plus the auto choke sticking, not to mention valve stem seals breaking up causing oil smoke.
I loved my time working on the Datsun/Nissans, great to work on, easy life, not like today's crap....I took the cylinder head off a XUD engine on friday (head gasket job) took me 5 hours to get it off! God knows how long it will take to refit.
I have another head to take off tomorrow on a 2007 Vectra SRi.

good luck with the Veccy mate, ihate those modern veccys they shouid of kept with the same principals of the mk2 -3 cavaliers, much easier to work with
and more reliable,
