406 HDI Clutch Problem!! Help

Post by robconnors1977 »

Hello.

The car concerned is a Hdi 90 bhp on a Y plate, although the car is a taxi it is only driven by me, sensibly.

I had the clutch replaced by a peugeot dealer due to slipping in may 2005. This clutch done 22,000 miles by which time it started juddering, so i took it back and they fitted a new one under warranty. (january 2006)

The car has now done 43,800 miles on the latest clutch, and to my horror last night started slipping again in 3rd and 4th gears.
My point is should i expect a clutch to last longer than this, and am i within my rights to go back to the dealer to ask for another warranty claim. Its really annoying because i paid £400 originally to have the clutch done by the dealer as i thought that the clutches might last longer than non-gen items. How wrong was i!!

when a clutch is done by a dealer they only warrant one replacement, and genuine clutches are crap, your better of getting a sachs clutch as peugeot use luk ones
you stand no chance of getting it replaced by them again under warranty

I have tried the car again today and it does not slip at all now!!.

Is their any possibility that the clutch hydraulics may be causing a problem?, though i have no issue eith clutch pedal etc.

I have the slipping clutch problem and sometimes I wonder if it is made worse by oil contamination from the crank seal.

it could be a sticky pressure plate, lazy slave cylinder, or as welly says, oil contamination from the rear main crank seal

Is there any thing obvious that could be checked. I do know that the crank seal was replaced at the first clutch change as thats what caused the last one to stick!! - That was 60k ago though.
