Philips Radio/Cassette Player OEM fitment on d8?

Post by Leopold »

Hello all,

Does anyone have a Phillips Radio/Cassette unit that is the OEM fitment on the d8 406's with the display in the actual unit not with the separate display, with the cd changer compatiblity? If so, would you be at interested in selling?

Payment awaiting!!

Cheers,

Lee

There might be one of them there thingies in my attic, can't say for sure. Tell you what though I'm pretty sure that model (4030 IIRC) doesn't support the cd changer, that's why I changed it for a 4050 with the separate display....

It does support a cd changer, as there is one connected to my Headunit.

My brother's got one in the 98 SX he bought a few weeks back - it's got a cd changer, but the magazine won't eject :frown:
Radio & cassette work, but the display backlighting doesn't.

Any tips / suggestions gratefully received.

Same here mate, but everything works on mine apart from the display backlighting.

Sorry to revive a very old thread, but DaiRees - when you changed from the 4030 to a 4050 did it Just Work? Or did you have to do any extra wiring?

That was a long time ago! I'm pretty sure it just worked. You need to add the external display top where the cubby hole is but the wiring was already there for that. I also added a changer so needed to run the wiring for that to the boot.

Thanks :)

I've already retrofitted the trip computer for MPG etc, so in theory I just plug the new 4050 radio in and we're all good.

Cheers!

Good point that: it looks like you can only Retreive the codes for them if your an electrician or have some electronics know how, :frown:
not like the other units, these look like you have to go by Eprom and read the Dump files :(

Got one without a code for £5 (thought it was worth a shot) and got the code from a forum on the net somewhere for free.

Installed and all working!
