406 2.0 HDi Exec Saloon on Ebay - spares or repairs £500

Post by Matt »

Hey,

I'm selling my 406 exec, got a new car now, this ones got what seems to be a fuel pump issue, but i cant tell for sure as the PP2000 report just suggests its a 3rd piston deactivating device fualt, it could be an easy fix, i dont know, either way starts and runs fine without issue at the moment and i've used it to go to nottingham and towcester this week already

I cant guarentee anything on it so i'm selling as spares or repairs, no reserve, starting at £400

Heres the link

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261070378618

If anyone fancies it for breaking then make me an offer, i dont have the time or a premises to break this car properly or i would have been tempted to do it myself

Cheers
Matt

Matt, I believe some re-maps 'fiddle' with the 3rd Piston to give full diesel pressure all of the time. I think the cheapo re-map 'chips' do this. There's also an Orange connector on the fuel pump which operates the 3rd piston - maybe it's un-plugged?

You need to get the live fuel rail pressure read to see how the HP pump is behaving. It should show a steady 298 Bar at idle and rising to about 1350 Bar on high revs.

If the car is behaving itself in general and the fuel economy is ok then I wouldn't throw the towel in just jet.
