yep disconnect the battery and then bridge the terminals on the car, as long as the battery is disconnected this is perfectly safe

i wouldnt get the plugs from the dealer as they will overprice them, go to your nearest motorfactors and get some NGK's, as thats what genuine ones are, either that or horrible eqyeum or bosch ones, i find NGK the best

Just checked my previous service details. Service interval is 2 years or 20K miles, last service was 1 year and 1 week ago, almost exactly 8000 miles
I put NGK plugs in there then, surely they shouldn't be knackered already
I remember thinking the Bosch ones I took out at the time looked a bit sooty though....

Re: "Engine Antipollution System Defective"During
Hi James, just after I had the car, I had a "FAP filter blocked", FAP being the particulate filter. I took it off and cleaned it myself with water. his gave me a couple of months grace but then I had the antipollution system defective message. When I took it to the dealer then, they topped the fuel additive up and did a forced regeneration of the particulate filter and cleared and codes. The problem was the light came back on the following day. Since then I've noticed it coming on mostly in the rain.jameslxdt wrote: i bet the particle filter needs to be cleaned and the ecu needs to be told its done
When it was in the dealer, he did mention te particulate filter, but I thought it might be an old code. But I've since been told Peugeots don't store codes. Is this true?
Last time I took off the particulate filter, and flowed water through it, it did flow much better than when I first took it off, but at the same time, did take best part of 10 seconds to "empty" of water. So it could well be the filter, but every time I book it in to the dealer, it's dry and the light's off and no message. So still waiting for it to be connected to the diagnostics machine.
James, any idea though why it might be only showing up when it raining?
Cheers
Neil

Re: "Engine Antipollution System Defective"During
its strange, i can only think that the pressure sensors for the FAP are getting contaminated by rain water, as far as iim aware they work on resistance in the circuit, as water would cause them to complete the circuit with no resistance, or short to ground flagging up the FAP fault, its a long shot but maybe even the filter has a leak and water is getting into it, but this could also turn out to be a BSi fault, as the BSi controls the introduction of the additive, everytime you switch on the ignition it measures how much fuel is in the tank compared to when you switch off, if its greater than before by about 10 litres i believe, it will measure the quantity of cleaning additive, if the level is ok, it may trigger a cleaning cycle, if the level is low it flags up a fault, and if the cleaning cycle also fails it will flag a fault, so it could also be a faulty additive level sender, internal BSi fault, FAP filter pressure sensor(s) fault or the dreaded filter itself has failedneildavies wrote:James, any idea though why it might be only showing up when it raining?jameslxdt wrote: i bet the particle filter needs to be cleaned and the ecu needs to be told its done

right Dai, its not looking good, i had a word with my dad, and he said theres only one fault with the HPi and your symptoms match this too, apparantley the high pressure pump breaks down, like the HDi one's, and doesnt supply enough fuel pressure, the pump is over £500 and you have to replace the pump to fuel rail pipe at the same time, you need to get the codes read first though, are you sure its misfiring? i would try the plugs first then get the codes read and go from there
Neil, my dad reckons there's nothing wrong with your particulate filter, as you would get different messages to what you've got, the only way round this is to face the music and go to the dealer

Cheers James, I'm just waiting for a full on rainy day to phone them up. They said for me to phone them on the off chance and they'll see if they can get it in that day. Needless to say, I'll keep you all posted.

I've just come back from the dealer. The light has stayed on over the weekend and it's been dry so I thought I'd get it in to be sorted.
The mechanic said it must be the "differential Pressure Sensor" as it's saying the particulate filter is blocked but it isn't.
£75 part and 2 hours labour, total cost £227. They're ordering the part for me now.
I was relieved when he said a sensor had gone, then I found out the price.
So over £200 for a sensor to make a light on the dashboard go out. 2 things that didn't used to be on cars years ago. I think these manufacturers know what they're doing allright!
I'll update here again when the job's been done.

James, any idea where this is. The reason I ask is I would like to know if it's something I can do myself and I found this on the internet:
For EDC15C2; Check the Exhaust differential pressure sensor. It has a habbit of becoming contaminated with water.
