Not the 61 plate Peugeot 308 windscreen cracked thread

Post by Roylewaa »

My dad bought a Peugeot 308 from our local Peugeot dealer on Tuesday for £11k, he part ex'd his 57 plate 308 (which they gave him £5k for, 2 grand cash deposit and the rest on finance

I went up to see the car tonight for the first time and the first thing I noticed is the windscreen is quite badly cracked at the bottom, Its fairly out of direct view but I noticed it straight away, My dad didnt know about it and was fairly peeved

Anyway he plans to contact the dealer on Monday regarding hopefully having the windscreen replaced as I would imagine once the temp really drops the cracks will quickly worsen

I'm suprised as the car was supposed to have had a 150 point check (or whatever it is called) :frown:

Is he likely to be fobbed off or have any trouble from the dealer? He literally has only driven the car about 30 miles since Tuesday and he said nothing has hit the screen and the car has been garaged most of the week

Thanks for any help and advice
D8 2.1 TD saloon, oh yeah :)

Should delete it, could delete it, can't be bothered. Heck, it's finally cooled down and I'm sleepy.

The Toyota has a (what is it, a chip? A crack?) a small bumhole-shaped star thing on the passenger side, right at eye level. I expected it to get worse but it didn't. I also asked about getting it fixed with resin - they've never heard of that here  Also, at the bottom corners of the windscreen are small plastic bits of trim, the ones on this particular heap had fallen into the scuttle and were there, buried under the leaf mould   I've no idea how they're meant to be held in place though, so I once more employed the mighty hot glue gun. It's going to be made out of it soon.

I also rather enjoy the way the windscreen disappears down below the scuttle but you can still see it, so no way of keeping it clean apart from dismantling the whole lot - lots of tiny little clips that you undo by pushing the little pin into the car (goodbye).

This piece of crap really is worth twice the value of my 406

My mate is a fan of the Ravs,
he brought it round a few weeks ago, imust of spent an hour trying to get one of the bulbs (Brake light)out of the Back light it had come loose and fallen inside,
Nightmare of a car to work on, I ended up smashing the bulb and getting it out in peices, and then going buying anew one,, the bulbs arnt cheap either,
it certainly put me off buying one ,

And then when he went to set off in it, steering lock wouidnt come off,
took him 10mins before itd finaly come off,
ithink hes had enough of it now and selling it on,

Oh dear, now I should merge the threads. If I could be bothered...

I've had to change a stop & tail light bulb on mine, it took me half an hour to fiddle the damn thing out and then - WHAT THE F*&% IS THIS???? I had to fiddle it back together to go buy a bulb and yes, it wasn't cheap I also had to change a sidelight bulb, although I can blame the Haynes this time as it had me taking the front of the car to bits. An hour later I realised you get to it by removing the arch liner. Balls to that, one big screwdriver later...

I'm still looking at the forum, although generally in disbelief - no matter how crap these cars are there are a fair few regulars that still reckon they're wonderful, although this made me laugh - one guy who kept bleating on about how wonderful Toyota were for fixing everything under warranty (like no other manufacturer does that  ) recently posted this http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/ ... p=1219372I A while back I wanted to post that us poor suckers who aren't wealthy enough to buy a car new enough to still have a warranty would be buying into a world of hurt but I just couldn't face being hit with a load of grief. Well, now they're saying it   Finally reality beckons.

Why nobody should buy a diesel Toyota: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/ ... omsearch=1 - I suspect these are the D-cat cars ( = particle filter) but I could be wrong.
