Air Con Compressors Interchangeable??

Can anyone tell me if air con compressors are interchangeable?? I've got a 02 D9 estate and been offered one from a 03 D9 estate.

The big question is are they Sanden or Delphi compressors, they fitted both. And the buggers hidden away making it difficult to see. If you can get some pictures of yours, ideally from underneath, we may be able to tell.

You can tell by the label on them.

iirc the the sanden as a Small square Blue-ish turquioish feck knows how you spell that label
and the delphi has along lable, yellow and green,

you shouid be able to spot the label perhaps a wipe with a rag will reveal it

The pulleys are differnt,

Pay attention, also they fitted several different Sanden for different years, most of the times they are interchangeable, but sometimes won't.

Learned this on my skin - servicebox had the wrong compressor for my VIN!

The fan belts are different lengths for the delphi and sanden compressors,both are six rib belts just different lengths,so in theory with the right belt the compressors are interchangeable,unless any of the mounts or pipe connections are different?

Dunno for the 2.0, but in case of the 2.2HDi different compressors numbers may also mean different pipe mountings and electrical connectors.

The compressor pipe fittings are very different between the two. You will need to get the right one, it's a case of getting down there and having a look.
