lumpy running

Post by Dan224 »

Just spent an absolute fortune on engine mounts, drop links, bushes, exhaust and service and thought the spending had finished, unfortunatly 2 problems have remained, 1sr one is suspension related and will post that on the relevent board, the second one is lumpy running, although lumpy is too strong a word as It's barely noticable. It runs fine until the oil temp goes up and then there's a very faint stutter, you realy only notice it on tick over or when at a steady speed, under acceleration you cant feel anything.
Can anyone spread any light on ths or point me in the right direction to check it out.

Cheers

2001 2.0 petrol.

I'm a bit lost if it hasn't got a carb but I'm going to suggest an ignition fault - I guess plugs or coil pack is all they get. Did you change the plugs?

Edit - scratch that, I just spotted this in your other thread:

You could do with putting that in your sig as it's quite a different lump. I think they all experience a misfire, something to do with the coil pack and needing some special conductive (or was it non-conductive?) heat paste. Or something :?

Have a search (or wait for Dai) - I gotta go to the quack's again :( :(

Try running with Super Unleaded you'll be amazed the difference it makes.

If not then I'm thinking a proper injector clean (taken out and cleaned/tested on a rig) an expert on this told me that petrol injectors should be cleaned every 40,000 miles

just a thought, I got my spark plugs from halfrauds, checked the website and it says its for an RFV engine, however, if L'm reading my Vin right, I've got an RFN engine, could this be a cause of the problem do you think?
