I've fitted a new OE bottom hose and a Nissens radiator. I started the engine to let it get up to temperature to check for leaks and after a few minutes the bottom hose blew off and dumped coolant everywhere The connectors look ok but upon further examination I can easily pull off the bottom hose even with the clip properly engaged. The metal lugs can slip under the clip no problem. I've tried another clip just in case but same issue. I've tried the same with the top hose but it seems a lot more secure and I'm not able to remove it with the clip in place. I'm most confused

Ok, problem solved (I hope). I put a hose clip over the top of the horse shoe clip a nipped it up. It holds the horse shoe clip in tight to the hose and seems to keep things secure.
