Mileage ?

Post by Mackie »

I am getting about 400 miles out of a full tank at the moment (if I am lucky !)

Can anyone give me an idea of whether this is average or if there is an issue ?

Sorry for newbie post again !!!

that sounds about right, my 2.0 will struggle to get anywhere near 350 miles to a tank and thats driving like an old woman, a 1.8 should be a bit better,
i really want a diesel

Cheers for the info guys !

Actually . . .

A mate of mine has just driven his 306 into a roundabout, totally buggered the front wheel an front skirting etc ... and has decided to get rid of it as he cant be arsed to fix it (may have done more damage than he knows!!!!)

He's looking to get £150 for it, anyone know of anybody who would be interested for parts or a project ?

Let me know ...

My 2 litre beast gets me 400 miles per tank, sometimes a little more.
I've still to test it with the new exhaust though. That might help with the consumption.

Both, a lot of short 20 to 30 minute trips then some inter town driving. I'm not exactly the most gentle on the accelerator either. I cruise at 80 on the motorways, which I drive approx 22 miles of each day.

Hmm... theres no EDIT button!!

Wanted to add. I've driven 2 long stretchs in the last year. Edinburgh - Leicester and back and Edinburgh Birmingham and back.
I averaged 400 miles for a tank. But that was with my crappy loose and holed exhaust.

Mine does about 400-450 miles on a tank, works out at around 31-33 mpg, but I do drive like a granny these days :?

That's about the same as I used to get out of my D8, although when I first had it I was only getting 28, had to "adjust" my drving style to achieve 32 :cheesy: . Most I ever managed out of either 406 on a good run was 38 average, but I used to have a 1.8 mundano that once managed 44.4mpg on a rather frantic weekend holiday to Scotland, spent most of the time at 90mph too so I wasn't nursing it! 1400 miles in 3 days  including my furthest ever distance driven in a single day, Merthyr to Inverness, 555 miles, 9 hrs 8). The mundano used to turn in mpgs in the late 30s as a matter of course.

Can I take a moment just to GLOAT about the fact I can do over 600 in my turbo? :D That is extreme granny driving though but I reckon I could possibly knock 700 if it were 100% motorway.

I did work it out so I filled up at my regular place on 602 miles though... and put over 70 litres in it!

My '96 1.8Lx does 420 miles every tank and I drive the same 30 min rural route twice a day. That actually doesn't sound too bad for a petrol.
