Re: Help for heroes charity drive in Peugeot 406!
Wow, Thanks for all the advice! The car had a full service at the same time as the water pump/timing belt change. One thing we have had an issue with is the cooling fan. When the ignition is off and key is out, the fan continues to run, this happened the other day and once I'd returned to the car an hour later the fan was still running and battery was flat! We put it down to maybe the cooling system not being bled properly after the water pump change so did it again following some advice and used a plastic bottle as an expansion tank to counter the gravity issues. Thought this had done the trick until I drove it today and the fan continued after ignition off. I started the car and put the blowers to heat for a minute and it turned the fan off. Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Help for heroes charity drive in Peugeot 406!
This viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17639&p=175251&hili ... ng#p175375 seems to suggest a sticking relay. The diagram says the fan has 3 speeds, controlled by 3 relays located in the fan shroud. Not very common anyway, the usual problem is the fan not working because one of the low speed resistors has rotted away of the fan motor brushes are worn out...

Hiya Guys,
This is a brilliant cause! I've just made a donation of £50 to the justgiving page which I'd like you to consider as being on behalf of the 406 Owners Club. The reason this has come from me is that I sell club logo stickers, so this money is partly profit from the sale of those stickers. I'm sure that the owner, administrators and members of this club will be delighted to see the money going to such a worthy cause.
I'd also like to donate 4 stickers for the car (front, back and sides?) if you'd be happy to display them? Please advise whether you'd like silver or white, and forward or reverse cut. Info on the stickers can be found here viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6463
Best of luck with the trip

This is a fantastic gesture, Thanks so much!
If we can have the stickers in silver, forward cut, we will display them on the front, sides and rear bodywork of the car for better prominence.
Thanks again.

The address on the initial post is ideal.
Thanks again!

Re: Help for heroes charity drive in Peugeot 406!
Thanks to Brett for the donation of the Haynes manual and brake pads!
Went to the local Peugeot dealer in Faringdon today cap on hand.... They have promised to give us a set of drop links and relays for the cooling fan which is good, going to be cheeky and ask them for a new ignition key as well!

Re: Help for heroes charity drive in Peugeot 406!
Good for you.
Ignition key will normally cost a packet, apart form the key, there's £25 or so to retrieve the PIN if you don't have the card that came with the car and about £50 to program it.
(If we had a bit more time I could do both for you, but I'm off on hols early hours of Friday morning).
Maybe another helping of brass neck will get you somewhere at the stealers, (it really doesn't cost them anything apart from cost price for the key)..........
Good luck!

Re: Help for heroes charity drive in Peugeot 406!
I'm a little concerned about the condition of the clutch, it shudders when you set off, mentioned it to Peugeot garage but they weren't too keen to help!! Might see if they will replace it minus labour if we pay for the clutch itself!Doggy wrote:Good for you.
