I play fuel light bingo at the end of every month, as I'm usually skint by then! I've had my fuel needle BELOW the bottom of the red segment in my 1.8 petrol 406, and that was a bit of a tense time. Most I've ever put in the tank in one go was £72 but this was when the petrol prices were through the roof, usually it's a £60 fill.
Accelerating yes, but at a constant speed such as motorway cruising the only extra force at play is a little extra friction caused by your rear tyres flattening slightly more (which can be counter-acted by putting a little extra air in 'em!)Welton wrote:Makes you wonder a bit here.
70 ltrs of fuel weighs about 70 Kilos, so for a few days you will be carrying all that weight around, affecting your MPG.

The people that used to own my missus 318 compact must have practiced that, but decided to leave 36PSi in the rears all the time, leaving no tread in the centres of both (otherwise very new) tyresmjb wrote:which can be counter-acted by putting a little extra air in 'em!

Likewise at the end of every month. Im gonna certainly play it this month and see how many miles I can get out of a full to the brim tank, and run it down to at least "---" on the trip computer.Davva2004 wrote:I play fuel light bingo at the end of every month, as I'm usually skint by then! Might consider filling up with BP Ultimate, Optimax or Super or similair the month after to compare the difference.
Pris.

I actually find my MPG goes up with a full tank. Maybe because the engine ain't feeding on any crap that might me lying on the bottom of the tank.Welton wrote:Makes you wonder a bit here.

Forte fuel treamtemt is the best thing around. Much better than redex. Not cheap though!! You can get it in the dealers.
On my old 406, it stopped smokeing (albeit temporarily) and actually made the car faster and smoother.
