It was a sad day...

Post by DaiRees »

I'm sure some of you will know about the problems I've had with my Pug, the long and the short of it is that I bought a new car, had a buyer lined up for the Pug, then she broke down on me :frown: . Anyway, there were at least one too many vehicles at the Rees residence so something had to go, quickly! I've been thinking about selling my old Suzuki for a while but had never actively tried to sell it, but now I figure it'd go much more quickly that the Pug. So I rang an old friend who knows a lot of 4X4 enthusiasts and within in hour there was a bloke at my house viewing it, a price was agreed and a couple of days later he showed up with a trailer to take it away.

Now she hadn't been started since last summer and not used for 3 years, last MOT said 4th June 2009 and the mileage is still the same , so I gave the battery a charge for an hour then jump started it and she fired straight up, no problem. Not bad eh?

I washed off the 3 years of dust, grime and mildew that she'd accumulated stored in my garage and she scrubbed up pretty well 8)

And the last time I ever drove it was up onto the trailer

I bet it went for peanuts too :( A sad day indeed, but if you hadn't used it in 3 years then it was a sure sign it needed "pruning" from the fleet. If you had kept hold of it it probably would have detriorated and you'd have ended up paying someone to take it away...

Actually they're appreciating in value. If she'd had an MOT and some Tax I'm sure I could have sold her for more than I paid for her 7 years ago, sure I've spent a bit on her in that time and done a load of work so there's probably less rust now than there was back then, but I've also knocked 7 shades of shyte out of her offroad, stressed every component to the max, dented and scratched pretty much every panel and filled it with mud a few times, I'd also given the engine a bit of abuse so she's smoking pretting badly on overrun. So all in all I consider £200 less than I payed to be a bit of a result 8) :supafrisk: .

The vultures are already circling... :(

Get it running, get it outa there! Tell you what though, seeing as it's a rather unusual and unknown engine, it'd better be running spot on or you'll have a lot of trouble shifting it :frown:

do they allow you to turn up on the back of an rac truck? :supafrisk: There is one in Merthyr that he could get it to but from what he says it would more than likely cut out at the auction... Not sure if the place is any good anyway.
