Anyone running on cooking oil?

Daft question here,

is anyone on here Running on cooking oil?

At present im using a Throw away car until iget my 406 back

ive got it running on 50/50 cooking oil and pump derv,

it wont run on straight oil ..runs lumpy /cuts out..

What else is there to use other than pump diesel to thin the cooking oil,

only using this car for a month or so - so theres not much lost if the seals go in the pump

Im using it on a peugeot 309 diesel.
I also have to put diesel to mix with cooking oil,you have to clean and replace filters freq.
all the rubber parts should be replaced with some material-forgot how its called.

I see cars running on pure oil,just put some heaters inside so that can melt the grease.

Some people here uses straight oil in their mercedes,no diesel at all,i didnt do that on my 309 cuz it needs a proper service before that.
But i think,with proper service,few replacement of rubber it would go fine.
You say the engine wount go on straight oil?maybe there is some other problem

Try 5% petrol but add half a litre of two stroke to the tank to up the cetane level.

I was runnibg 100% oil in my 406 no issues.

Its not the seals that cause the ussues either. The shaft between the pump and cambelt just snaps when trying to pump cold oil.

I usually run 2 to 1 veg derv mix with a shot of forte every other tank full.
Starts and runs fine with no loss of mpg's but does hunt for 5-10 seconds on a cold start. Not an issue for me as I always try and let it idle for 30 seconds or so to let the engine oil circulate (rolling a smoke is my usual guide on that).

If it's running lumpy I'd give it a good dose of your chosen cleaner, if possible a full dose with low fuel will give the pump and injectors a good scrub, then try a higher veg mix.

When it gets colder I'll move to a 50/50 mix which will increase my price per litre but at the moment I'm paying £1.14 a litre instead of £1.41 for straight derv and rising!! Saving me £1.22 a gallon or put another way it pays my road tax

At the moment I'm getting forte FOC from the guys in the workshops so I'm planning to experiment with some veg in a bottle mixed with it to see if it actually thins it or not, will post the results when I get round to it.

but it carnt be .. the T stands for Turbo dont it?

this is a straight diesel.


if ican find out what is : then perhaps ican work out wether or not ican change the pump so itl run straight oil.
but theres nothing on the engine no numbers -nothing other than the fiat logo on the rocker cover

ive asked someone about the fiat engine,

basicly there an uprated 1700cc straight diesel they had in the old fiats stradas etc,
the pump is a lucas not bosch as ithought

so its apiece of crap basicly thats best left running on straight derv,

Look in to mis-fuel. i.e. someone puts the wrong fuel in their tank, phones a recovery truck, tank is drained at a local garage. The mixed fuel is then waste that the garage usually has to pay to dispose of. I collect this stuff and blend it in with waste veg anywhere between 20 and 40% depending on what mix it is. A lot of it looks like straight diesel and could be put straight into the tank. It makes filtering waste veg much easier and it works down to much lower temperatures.

It's also entirely road legal duty paid fuel (just someone else has paid the duty)
