D9 Decat downpipe

The front flexi on my 2001 HDI 90 cracked & I had to do a patch up job on it. The rest of the front pipe is on its last legs so I need a complete new one.

I cut out the cat & replaced it with a straight pipe & it passes MOT no problem. Only problem now is that any new pipe comes with a cat, which I don't need & it's £87 +vat!

Am I right in thinking a D8 didn't have a cat? Would a D8 front pipe fit a D9? Any other suggestions?

D8 HDis only came in 110 flavour and they had a cat. Looking at the diagrams the front section on the 90 lacks the front can of the 110, going all the way from the turbo to the rear box. Also the Siemens version lacks a cat...

My is D8 turbo and also have cat...
you can always do most of the pipes yourself,cut and weld it up.

You may be lucky enough to find a decent one at a breakers which will undoubtedly have the cat removed already. If you don't mind a bit of cutting and welding it would be the cheapest option.

Really depends on how long you're planning on keeping the car to what you want to spend on it.

This is a mess but it looks like saloon all: 1726AA until RPO 08575, then 1726EE until RPO 09638 when the centre hanger changes sides, then it's 1726SR (superseded 1726SP)
Estate all 1726QH (RP 1726JH) REAR SILENCER until RPO 09638, then 1726SS (for the same reason)

Well here's what's on my Siemens 90. (Doesn't look bad to say it's been there 10 years now.) Looks like the second diagram. So this isn't a cat?

They all say catalyser (apart from that HDi 110 that says without, rather interestingly) but that one just says "PIPE"

Hold on, I'll check some prices. Hmm, bluddy diagrams, one says it is, one says it isn't, but then one is 315 quid ("without composite"), the one that says "pipe" is 850 quid (and a surcharge) and one is (deep breath) almost a grand I'd have thought 315 quid is enough for a cat, but a grand??

Finding something more reliable... Walkers sell 3 cats pipes for 2.0 HDis, one for the 90 that includes the centre pipe, one for the 110 without DPF and one with. Looking at the prices I reckon it is a cat (sorry ) and I should stop looking at crappy diagrams

I still can't get over that one for a grand - you'd have to be nuts!

So I guess it's not available but thanks for the help guys.

I would make the exhaust up myself as I can buy the straight pipe & the flexi but the problem could be getting the olive end that goes on the manifold & I have no way of bending the pipe.

What I might do is remove the pipe, bring it to a local exhaust manufacturer & get them to make something up.

That sounds like a plan, although I reckon they might need the whole car to get the angles right.

Incidentally, I got my mate in the car spares shop here to see if any of his suppliers did this pipe without a cat in it - nope
