Diff Oil Seal Size

Post by Turbo7379 »

Need to replace diff oil seals on my 2001 HDI 90. Can anyone tell me what the dimensions of the seals are so I can order them from the motor factors? I assume they are a double lipped type? Would I be better getting them from the stealers?

I think the 'box should be this BE4-5L:
3121 44
RP 16 088 167 80
01
SEAL
40X58-10
£14.45

3121 46
01
SEAL RIGHT
29X47-11
£12.74

It doesn't mention the lips. You could probably save a few quid getting them from a factor but then you won't know about these lips, so perhaps it would be easier to get them from the dealer's. Unless you can find someone in the factors who knows what they're doing...

We replaced mine while doing the clutch/DMF job, (well, I watched while jasper5 and co., who knew what they were doing did it).

The ones from the factors didn't fit, but jasper managed to persuade the stealer's to stay open 5 minutes longer and thus avoid disaster....

They're ony a few quid IIRC, so I'd say stealer on this occasion.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Yes, dealer for sure, they aren't any cheaper from the factors and they actually fit.....I'm picking 2 up in half an hour from the dealers as it happens.

Thanks for all the info guys. Guess I'll go to the stealers & get them.
From previous experience with 205 gearboxes I know that the genuine pug seals are a better fit, just thought I'd save some cash.
