Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

If you get cold air all the time you might have an engine cooling problem.

Not if it's killing him with heat :?

Not sure which flavour of 406 you have (hint hint) but I think there's 3 sensors it works off to know how hot it is inside the car, and winds the heat up or down accordingly - the sunshine sensor in the dash, the external temperature sensor and the sniffer in the overhead console - I reckon this one is favourite (ebay or breakers, they aint cheap!). Or the ecu's gone mad.

Whuh? :?

Overhead console, there's a little grille next to the map reading lamps. You might just get away with giving the thermistor a clean. - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17132&p=168574&hili ... or#p168599

Mine does this, daft thing is the car knows what temperature it is in the cabin and outside as read out form PP2000. Interior sensor will be reading 15C but the heater will be on full cold. and in reverse interior could be reading 25C and the heater is on full hot.

Operation of the flap that controls the heat (it has 3 settings, cold, med and hot according to PP) works fine, you can hear it move without restriction as you test the function.

In my mind that only leaves the control unit in the dash, and I am too tight to buy a new one to fix it, I just keep prodding buttons (on / off) with it set at 14 in the summer, 30 in the winter

If you get anywhere with this let me know :)

For anyone who may find this in the future. To fix the issue simply replace the heater control panel :)
