burning smell at 65+

burning smell at 65+

hi everyone, i get this burning smell at around 65-70mph then goes, or going up hill loaded or unloaded theres no slipping on the clutch just not sure if its that or the cat all brakes/oil/water and every thing else are fine it a 1.8 16v estate any ideas???? thanks

What does it smell of? Binding brakes?

Weird, I had a plastic bag melt onto my exhaust once which made a funny smell - maybe get a look underneath?

The heater matrix might be making a smell too - check the pollen filter (might be blocked) reducing airflow causing this weird heat pick-up to the cabin airflow while you accelerate.

Also maybe the thermostat might be lazy causing brief overheating and a burning smell - also the rad might need flushing due to a similar problem.

none of the brakes are binding there nothing under that shouldn't be and the smells wierd not like brakes/clutch thats y i though could be cat but thats doing what its meant to be doing will try pollen filter got one today will let know.

Does it smell like Indian? i kept getting hungry when i first got my car but once i changed the pollen filter the smell went.

If it's anything like mine it'll be stinking and look like birds have been nesting in it :lol: i just cleaned mine at the time but it needs changing.
